About

Vanmayi (She/her) is a multidisciplinary visual artist and art director with a  lens-based background in social documentary and storytelling.  The narratives in her work stem from a people and planet perspective and flow through a wide range of media like photography, design, visual culture, mixed media, handpoked and machine tattoos, installation work etc.

With her work, Vanmayi aims to uncover the intersections of design, art, culture, technology and the natural world to create social and artistic systems that explore concepts of growth and transformation. She believes that any creative work that stems from the intersection between identity and community, has a strong transformative quality to it.

She has been tattooing (Handpoke) for 5 years now, and did her apprenticeship under HeadHunters Ink (Moranngam Khaling) in 2020 when she went to the Tattoo Village in Manipur to further her skills and train in tattooing while using a machine.

With an in depth experience in teaching children and  young adults how to express themselves through art, she has worked as visiting faculty at Srishti College of Art and Design to conduct workshops on Photography and Visual Storytelling.

Her work has been exhibited at the The LCC Foundation Show (2014) ,  The One Fest Goa and Goa International Photo Festival 2016 & 2017 respectively.
